Hi, I'm Stephen.

I'm a pretty simply guy. I love Christ, my family, and serving the local church.

Most people would rightly describe me as a huge technology fan. Here's what I do know, I believe that God intends for us to reach people with the power of the Good News using all the innovation He throws our way. Yesterday it was Gutenberg, today it's Jobs.

This is my personal blog. Here I write about faith and ministry.

I see it as my life's mission to help young leaders be the best they can so they can most effectively do what God has called them to do.

After more than a decade of serving in local churches in Arkansas, my family joined Andy and Erin Comer and the rest of the launch team to start a new church in the north Austin-area of Georgetown, Texas in 2017.

Originally from the lumber and national defense town of Camden, Arkansas, I grew up as a fightin' Camden Fairview Cardinal (which I thought was a really fierce mascot while I was there). My wife and I not only grew up in the same town, but also in the same neighborhood. Yes, she was the girl-next-door and we were high school sweethearts. #thankful

After graduation, we moved to Conway, Arkansas, to attend Central Baptist College. After two years of getting her pharmacy school prerequisites, she entered the pharmacy program at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) in Little Rock, Arkansas. We were married in July 2007, just before she began at UAMS.

After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in 2008, God called me to serve at a wonderful church in the southwest Arkansas town of Prescott. During my time at Central Baptist Church of Prescott, God grew me up in many ways - particularly through mentoring from the senior pastor, Perry Johnson. My four years there were some of the most formative years of my life.

In 2012, God called me back to Conway to serve as Middle School Pastor (grades five through eight) at Antioch Conway. I served with a great team that expanded my horizons and pushed me to hone my leadership and ministry. It was during this time that my wife graduated at the top of her class from UAMS and began working in the College of Pharmacy as an assistant professor.

My life was everything I had hoped it would be. I was serving at a great church, my wife was in a job she loved, we had just bought the house of our dreams about a year earlier, and we had a baby on the way.

But God was about ask us to step out in a big way...

The pastor of Antioch Conway, Jason Aultman, had the vision of wanting to plant a church in the near future. After prayer, Antioch Conway brought in Andy Comer, a successful pastor in East Texas, to train with our staff, make plans, and develop a large launch team before heading to Georgetown to plant a new church.

Though we were so happy and content in Conway, my wife and I felt that God was steering our hearts to be a part of the Georgetown team. To be very transparent, I really struggled with this decision - it was going to change the trajectory of everything in our life as a family.

One day, I heard a guy I really look up to, Craig Groeschel, say something that pushed me over the edge: "To step toward your destiny, sometimes you have to step away from your security."

From that moment, I was all in.

We officially launched Antioch Georgetown on January 21, 2018. We have a great team and I can't wait to see what God has in store  here in Central Texas!
